DINING WITH SINNERS is about God reaching out to us with amazing grace. It is about the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us. Some have even commented that the whole Christian faith is contained in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

If this is true, then a shared meal is very symbolic and communicative. This is why Jesus regularly shared his meals with those who were considered dirty, unreligious, and visibly or socially unacceptable. In other words, who we eat with demonstrates who we care for making the table a powerful display of God’s love and acceptance of sinners. The question now becomes whether or not we are able to discipline ourselves in such a way as to commune around the truth of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus when we share a meal with others.
