It doesn't start until 2:00 AM here, and I don't have a horse this year. However, precisely for the reasons you mention I will be at a pub downtown with a bunch of Austrians who want to watch the game. And I have to be up at 6:15 the next day. I still don't quite know how that is going to work!

"...highly rehearsed, choreographed and polished presentation of what we already believe"

I could not think of a better description of evangelicalism.

Thanks for the link to the film. Cued to watch. I just googled "elephant in the the middle of the room" and that is the one of the first pictures that came up which illustrated the point all to well.

I think the elephant room is neither a snapshot nor a distortion but just evangelicals being evangelicals. The appearance is that we are really letting everything on the table and everything is raw and unscripted but as you have shown there are really some things that are off the table and it is a highly rehearsed, choreographed and polished presentation of what we already believe. I think this is alot like evangelicalism right now. We think we are being totally rebellious and really stretching ourselves, but in reality we are doing this in a safe way. Much like the picture above, the only elephant we allow into the room is a trained elephant that we know can't really hurt us.

Incidentally the picture of the elephant above comes from an instillation by Banksy which is very well documented in the film "Exit Through the Gift Shop". That guy is dealing with some elephants in the room.
